Our founder, Harry Phord, was one of the earliest pioneers in affordable automobile production. A car buff from day one, Harry believed that owning your own vehicle was as basic a human right as food and shelter are. He also believed that cars should be durable, and that people shouldn't have to worry about shopping for a new model every few years.

So, Harry turned his principles into a business, and in 1922, he founded the Phord Motor Company. For over 100 years, we have acted on his beliefs that automobile transportation should be inexpensive, sturdy, and reliable. Our customers, as do we, owe a great deal of gratitude to Harry Phord.

In honor of our founder Harry Phord, we started the Phord Foundation in 1955, a group dedicated to educating the next generation of drivers and helping them save up to buy their own car one day. We teach the youth the values of traffic laws and safe driving, while also helping them understand how cars work.

Any donations we receive go towards saving funds for kids who come from low-income families that want to own their own car someday. We have already helped hundreds of children turned teenagers turned adults get on the road through our program, and that number continues to grow every single year.
