Dublin, Ireland 2013

We walked around the lovely campus of Trinity College and then walked around the National Library of Ireland. I really wanted to start reading through the WWI microfilm ... but I resisted.

We toured Dublin Castle. Just awesome. Our tour guide was fantastic; such history. He didn't spare any critique of the centuries of British occupation and rule. In addition to touring the apartments of the many British Viceroys and the famous grounds where the Irish Rebellion of 1916 started, we also toured part of the underground excavation showing sections of original Norman walls.

This stand was used to block the heat from the fireplaces so it wouldn't melt the facial makeup's of the British ladies, thus the saying "saving face". Cool.

Lord Cornwallis; remember him? Yeah, he's the General who surrended at Yorktown and lost to the (new) Americans. After we kicked his ass (ahem), the Brits sent him to Ireland where he ruthlessly squashed a rebellion. There is no love on this tour for the British.
