The Munker-White Illusion is comprised by multiple black bars, with white negative space. Among these stripes are green bars. The set of bars on the left overlap with the black stripes,
and those on the right overlap with the white stripes. This causes the illusion that the green on the left is lighter than the green on the right. However, the two greens are the same color. The surrounding color changes your perception.
The first vertical slider changes the position of the left green bars. The second vertical slider changes the position of the right green bars. As you scroll up and down, see how the color of the green seems to change, and when they look the same. The horizontal slider will change the opacity of the black bars. See how the color of the greens seems to change as opacity decreases, and see when the two seem to be the same color.
