Photography has always been something I have been passionate about. I enjoy taking pictures of anything but portraits of people. For example I enjoy photographing nature, and objects in nature like buildings or people, if they happen to be in the image from a far.
My late grandfather loved photography as a hobby, along with his doctor career, and I like to think I picked it up from him since I grew up around him and his love for photographs.
One could start by taking beginner classes in photography, or read articles and teach yourself. The best way to improve on your photographs is practice. Don't limit your practice by only taking photographs, but practice learning about your camera and its different settings. Learning how to edit is another essential to photography. Nobody ever takes the perfect shot without editing the image first. Editing is a good thing!
