Description
The guitar is a stringed instrument played by strumming or plucking the strings
while pressing them against the neck to change the notes. It comes in acoustic,
classical, electric, and bass forms, and it shows up in nearly every style of
music, from folk and country to rock, blues, and jazz. People play it alone,
in bands, or with friends, and it's easy to start with a few basic chords.
It's also a hobby that keeps rewarding you as your skills grow.

My Connection
I picked up the guitar six years ago, during my freshman year of high school, and
it has been a huge part of my life ever since. My dad was the one who got me
started, and much of whatever talent I have comes from him. In high school I
played in an ensemble, and during my senior year and freshman year of college I
took that further and performed gigs outside of school. I once hoped to make
music a major part of my career, and while it's still a hobby for now, it's a
massive part of who I am. I come from a very musical family, and I hope guitar
stays with me for the rest of my life.

How To Get Involed
- Purchase an inexpensive guitar (electric or acoustic)
- Learn from YouTube if you already own a guitar
- Reachout to the Wheaton Music Co-op group on campus if you'd like to learn from others and connect
- DON'T BE AFRAID! Everyone starts somewhere and grows along the way :)
