| Left: Here is our driveway on 3 Reserve St. In general, this is a typical Wollongong driveway.
Lots tend to be narrow and deep, usually three or four units per driveway. Initially, we lived in the
second flat, but now we've moved to the first one. Right: One of the first things I see on my walk
to work is Mt. Kiera. Mt. Kiera is part of the "escarpment" (or range of low mountains) that run
parallel to the coast. In typical Wollongong fashion, the sky is bright blue and even though it is
a winter day, it won't be long before I remove my "jum-pah" (sweater). |
| Left: The walk is rugged. Wollongong is geologically similar to San Francisco (up-down, up-down). Right: Here is
a typical neighborhood I walk through. I especially love this guy's VW van. You see many older cars and trucks
here, (reverting to Maine accent), "prob-lee 'cause there taint no salt on th' rud." |
| Left: After a right on Williams St., a right on Gipps Rd., and a left on John St. I reach the Wollongong
Botanic Garden. The gardens are a lovely short cut through to campus. Right: I have two or three paths to take through the
gardens; this path takes we toward Mt. Kiera again. |
| Left: Eventually (after about 30-40 minutes) I arrive onto campus. Right: But first a stop at Picasso's for
a coffee: "Long black with a lil' cold milk." |
