Left: Melbourne Cup Day in Australia is the day the country "shuts down" for a horse race. For our American friends, the equivalent to "the Cup" is the Super Bowl. We were told that folks "dress up", so Kathy and I played the part. Right: Our friends (and landlords) Bill and Alice hosted the party. They have a beautiful new home in Cordeaux Heights. Bill's game room features a nine-foot slate pool table which brought back memories of my childhood days on my Dad's nine-foot slate.
Left: Our neighbors and new friends Peg and Dr. Frank watch the race. (Notice that only the "yank" takes his eyes off the screen for a picture). Right: Alice and friends urge on their favorite horse.
We've met so many beautiful people here but here is one of the nicest, our next door neighbor and friend Judy.
Left: Lexie and friend take in the race. Don't mess with Lexie ... she knows her horses! Right: Eric gives us his best pensive look.
