Animal Crossing Leaf Earrings

I bought this pair of earrings two years ago on Etsy, from a business called “Hello Disco!”. These stud earrings are shaped like leaves; a classic symbol from the beloved Nintendo game series, “Animal Crossing”. In Animal Crossing, the leaf icon represents all furniture within the farming-life simulation game. This was implemented as a reference to Japanese folklore. Tanuki, humanoid raccoon ghost-creatures–and the species of a significant non-player character in Animal Crossing–are said to have shapeshifting powers, which they access via tree leaves. Besides being a long-time fan of the game series, I always have found this factoid amusing and interesting. A lot of Animal Crossing fans come up to me when I wear the leaves!
