The Process of Becoming a Writer
Beginnings Current Undertaking Future Plans
Growing up as an only child, Thomas spent a lot of time by himself. He grew up spending most of his time reading and creating extensive imaginative games. This helped him grow an expansive imagination. Thomas couldn't help but take up writing as he grew up. He went on to study Creative Writing in college. He makes an effort to write something - whether that is poety or prose - every day. This practice keeps creativity flowing. Thomas has hopes to one day publish both novels and poetry collections. But ultimately, he wants to keep writing for the rest of his life, no matter if anybody else sees his creations.

What Actually is Creative Writing?

The Cambridge English Dictionary simply defines it as "the activity of writing stories, poetry, etc." It's a creative activity that calls for participants to utilize the most fantastical parts of their mind.

How Do You Start Writing?

Thomas' Helpful Tricks

  1. If you find yourself stuck when writing a linear
story, skip ahead! You can always go back and
    fill in the gaps later.
  2. No matter you level of motivation, try to write
something every day. It will give you good
practice and create good writing habits.
  3. Read, read, read! The more you read, the more
you will know, the more you can write.
  4. Don't be afraid to share your work. It's often
a vulnerable exercise, but outside perspectives
    can be very helpful.
  5. Go outside of your comfort zone. You can surprise
yourself when you try out genres or styles that you
    you wouldn't usually engage with.
