THE HONOR CODE

Please remember the text you agree to when you sign the Honor Code:

"As members of the Wheaton Community, we commit ourselves to act honestly, responsibly, and above all, with honor and integrity in all areas of campus life. We are accountable for all that we say and write. We are responsible for the academic integrity of our work. We pledge that we will not misrepresent our work nor give or receive unauthorized aid. In this course, I expect you to uphold the Honor Code policy of Wheaton College. One of the ways this will benefit you is that Computer Science is very much a subject in which you learn by doing; if you submit work by other individuals, or receive excessive help from other people, you will not absorb this material. Therefore, keep in mind the following guidelines:

• When you turn in work with only your name at the top, you are submitting a statement that you were the only person who contributed to the final presentation of that work.
• You may discuss programming projects with other students, but only within certain parameters. Acceptable discussion includes how to approach a problem, or the general concept behind an explanation, but you may not discuss the final solutions to the problem or view another's program code (or show your program code to another person). This applies to both discussion with classmates and with people outside of this class who have taken this class before or have other prior experience with these types of problems.
• You may collaborate on homework problems unless it is indicated that you cannot do so. However, even if you discuss homework problem with others, you must complete the problems or explanations in your own way, using your own words. If you participated in extended discussion with a classmate during the completion of a homework assignment, indicate at the top of your paper the classmate(s) with whom you collaborated.

In accordance with the Wheaton Honor Code policy, every assignment and exam in this course must include this statement from you:

I have abided by the Wheaton College Honor Code in this work.

This statement must be signed with your name. If the handed-in work is on paper, write the statement by hand and conclude it with a signature. If the assignment is typed and submitted electronically, type your name after the statement.

There is ZERO TOLERANCE in this course for plagiarism of any type. Any incident will result in a 0 on the assignment involved and the College Hearing Board will be informed of serious violations.
