faculty-student research in genomics

The Genomics Group is an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students studying the DNA of various organisms, including work in gene regulation, phylogenetics, and comparitive genomics. Working in conjunction with faculty throughout the sciences who are involved in the new Bioinformatics major, students and faculty in computer science build new tools such as a DNA Dictionary for looking up your "favorite" DNA word.

The group is actively involved in bringing the group's research into the classroom and is presently funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF DUE 0340761): "Teaching Genomics to Undergraduate Computer Science and Biology Majors: A model involving infusion and strategic linking".

You can learn lots more about this active group at the groups web site: The Wheaton Genomics Group
